This reflective report has been prepared for the assignment which I did during this semester regarding a company named BlueScope Steel Ltd. The main motive of a reflective report is to see my performance while preparation of the assignment. Moreover, it also aims at recording my reactions and thoughts during this experience. It is also regarded as a personal record for my experience of learning from this assignment. The reflective report would encompass of things which I got to learn from writing the assignment, how could I further develop in it so that I do not repeat the mistakes which were made in this assignment. Another way to look at it would be critically analyze my own writing and learn from the mistakes made. It would render an opportunity to the reader to analyze my performance as a critical thinker, analyzer, presenter and reporter. As this report is a persuasive essay arguing on behalf of myself, I have tried to be as specific as possible. This would include how I made use of my ideas to develop my work, the source of my inspiration and various other things.
The description of this reflective report is regarding the assignment which I did on BlueScope Steel Ltd. The assignment included giving a brief explanation on the assets of the company and which accounting methods they take use in order to value the assets. Other than the assets, I took into consideration the accounting treatment given various other items in the balance sheet and thus concluded that the firm used mixed measurement model as a part of accounting different items in the balance sheet. The second part of the assignment was to find out which model is favored by the investors. Reference to various studies was also given to show which method was more preferable in which nation. Moreover, advantages and disadvantages of various methods were also discussed so as to analyze the best accounting method to be undertaken by the firm. One perspective of looking at this part was that different industries tend to implement different kind of methods. Thus, apart from various advantages and disadvantages, it is also necessary to take into consideration the kind of industry too. Hence, we could say that depending on the situation a firm tends to use different method at different times.
