In today’s globalized world, the modern multinational corporation (MNC) is a political, economic, cultural and environmental force which is quite unavoidable. It is by the forces of globalization that today’s global politics and economy is impacted greatly. Multinational Corporations in this context have seen a very rapid growth since the times of 1980s. At the same time, they also observed a very great impact on almost each and every aspect of the modern life; commercial aircraft, automobiles, consumer products, commercial aircraft, beverages and food which makes its function in the global epoch very crucial (Hasan 2007). Large number of developing nations has espoused into international trade agreements with the free flow of capital and liberalization of global trade. This in a way has hugely shaped the patterns of international division of labor and international trade. MNC in this context are international firms which manage revenues, production and investment outside its border together with a group of global human resource.
The main question of establishing minimum labor standards for developing nations has raised several multifaceted issues with the advent of the globalization era. Some of these are political, economic and moral which remain contentious till current time. Attempts have been made for the past two decades by Unites States of America, International Confederation of Free trade Unions and various other advances nation government in order to create a multilateral rule in WTO or World Trade Organization so as to impose higher standards of labor across the world. It is for the purpose of taking strict trade actions against the nations which are unable to maintain core labor standards that these standards are being placed (Feldmann 2008). But, at the same time the developing nations opposed this idea and hence this initiative don’t materialize and is marred this talk by indirect protective plans.
