ASDA retail industry was formed in year 1965 by the Yorkshire group of people who belong to the farmers industry. This ASDA Company expanded its business in the south of Britain by acquiring the Rival Chain retail gateway’s stores with the 710 GBP million in earlier nineties. Because of this investment in other different sectors it was difficult to sell the number of retail items in the grocery stores. These stores diversified in to different other products and due to this ASDA was about to bust in the market and it asked to the investors or shareholders to raise the sufficient money to operate the ASDA in year 1991 and 1993. When Kingfisher hired Mr. Archie-Norman as the chief executive of the company, then ASDA got return to its previous situation as food retail industry.
ASDA then lowered the price by three times to reach its position again and also they concentrated on the price first instead of the discount prices in UK. The ASDA Company then started to build up its connection in the north and south region of the Britain and attracted the huge group of customers. This strategy of the ASDA Company benefited not only to the ASDA business but also to the customers. In year 1980 the company reached on the better situation and got revenue with increasement of 15% from prior years.
Before acquiring the ASDA by Wal-Mart, this company was the first choice in the north and south Britain areas. This company was considered as one of the best retail chain company in providing the fresh foods, homes, furniture’s in Britain. It attracts the large number of customers in Britain. The ASDA Company changed it earlier strategy after acquiring the Rival Retain chain industry in the South Britain. The company had 1000+ employees during that time and corporation with the different small warehouses or retail centers to increase its supply chain stability and to reach to the customers easily and fast. It has opened new other retail stores soon again. Thus the financial, business and position of the company was at the top in Britain.
