Galileo and his support to support the Copernican theory
Nicholaus Copernicus was a member at church; he has got an inclination towards astronomy. He did some observations in order to prove his points. After his observations he gave a theory according to which the Earth was a planet which is revolving round the Sun, and all the other planets also revolves on a path. The position of the planets is inside each other depending on the size of the planet. He proposed that Mercury and Venus are the smallest ones and hence make the minutest circles, even lesser than that of Earth. This is the reason why the position of these planets is always nearest to the Sun. Also he said that the planets Jupiter, Mars and Saturn are bigger and forms the bigger circles (Coyne, 2015). The speed of revolution of bigger planets is much slower than that of the smaller planets. Being a member of a church forced him to be very cautious while displaying his theories as the theory given by him needed lots of corrections. Due to his carefulness the other members at the church took his theory seriously and gave a thought to it as a probable substitute to Ptolemy’s. Then Galileo came who made use of telescope to view the sky in the night and all his observations gave a strong proof towards theories of Copernicus.
Galileo made use of telescope to perform all his experiments in the field of science. He transformed the science in such a way that he was known as “Father of Experimental Science”. When Galileo heard that there was an instrument invented called as telescope, he decided to build his own telescope (Finocchiaro, 2010). With the help of this telescope he focused towards sky. He observed the sky and found various elements in support of Copernicus theories.
