  Audiolingualism has totally lost its flavor among the learning techniques of today’s generation. However there are one or two features of the audio-lingual method that I would like to utilize when teaching the English language. One of the feature to be utilized would be the ‘Primary of Speech’ because this feature would inculcate in learners the correct order of learning the language, i.e., listening-speaking-reading-writing. And this practice would ultimately help the learners to achieve the CEFR levels of A2 & B1 very easily where they would be able to comprehend the information and express themselves in a simple way for both familiar and non-familiar situations. According to me in today’s learning techniques, somewhere this fundamental order of learning is missing and should not be skipped as it forms the base of learning. I would like to instill in students the thought that ‘nothing can be spoken before it has been heard and nothing can be written before it has been read’ (Guiora, A. Z., 1968).

  The second feature which I would like to use would be the methodology of ‘Habit formation through repetition’. According to me to learn nay language, one needs to learn and remember the vocabularies and the common words that are used in day-to-day usage of that specific language. This can be achieved only through developing a regular habit of using the words in communicating with others. Developing a regular habit of reading English newspapers helps improve the learning skills as you will come across the words more often while reading and it will get memorized quickly. Instilling this technique would help achieve you the B2 (vantage) level of CEFR or in some cases, achieving the C1 level of effective operational proficiency would also not be very far. One will definitely learn the ability to express oneself on a greater range of topics and that too with some sort of accuracy. As Nelson Brooks (1964) defines this very idea as: ‘It is a fact that learning any language does not only concern about problem solving but the development and practicing of habits regularly’.
