This to a great degree has resulted in the architect to look for new style of designing; perhaps search for a new ‘ism’. He refers this as lateness and the society as ‘Late Capitalism’. This has resulted in the media driven architectural design. He is of the opinion that the architecture is still in the ‘Late Period’ and this application of technology has created a battle between spirit of time and space. This has damaged the relationship between architecture and the socioeconomic and cultural attributes of the people. To draw a conclusion according to Eisenman, the self-referential style of design is stagnant and is developing within the visible boundaries of modernism, Avant-grade and de-constructivism.
At this point of time it needs to be analyzed how the architect use their knowledge in applying the advance technological tools in their design process. If the application is unable to reduce the complex or add value to the work then it will be working within the parameters set by the other style to architecture. In case, it is able to break free from the laid down rules, we can say that a new style has developed.
However, I do not totally against the opinion from Peter Eisenmanthe, but it cannot represent the all the designer are doing their design are lack of the spirit of place – genius loci through the new digital media. In my opinion, the use of digital design media is depending the responsibilities of users how to adapt it in their design process. How will the avant-garde architecture adapt the advanced digital design technology in their design to create a new architectural language in contemporary society?
