The behaviourist theory shall remain dependent on words, meanings, imitation, reinforcement and expressions to teach a language. It bases its belief and claim on the fact that a human is a social animal and learns exactly what it is taught. Will the theory survive in the absence of these supporting aspects through which a language is learned? The theory may have to search for alternative aspects which facilitate learning a language. Thus, Chomsky keeps language acquisition and “learning to walk” in the same compartment without any difference, even when there is inherent difference between the two acts of speaking and walking – speaking needs some kind of teaching and walking does not. The behaviourist theory is more reliability based, in which it conforms to the existence of reinforcement, imitation and various other acts through which the child picks up the language . There is hardly any way in a civilised world where a child learns something different which its parents have not taught.
