Auckland is facing a housing y crisis. The city council has attempted to address this issue of housing supply issues by the creation of Special Housing Areas (SHAs). These are intended to focus on the streamline consent processes. The research indicates that the SHAs’ location process leads to the increase of population density and reduces the commute emissions that are caused by the vehicles. This process indicates that the commuters in the area would have access to the resources easily owing to the increase in the housing development. However, it is found to impact per dwelling such as storm water pollution and green field developmental projects. These SHAs would contribute to the higher level of storm water pollution.
A number of researchers is doe to address the issues of urban sustainability. It cannot be refuted that the increase in the population is causing the situation to be worsened. This research points to the fact that a mandatory need for integration of the resources and policies to create a cohesive atmosphere and maintain a quality of life. A number of sustainable plans are in the inception stage. The cities are gaining comprehension about the different kinds of integrated platforms that are needed to address the issues of sustainability and climate change. However, more research is needed for the dynamic circumstances in order to create an integrated plan. This is required and is yet to be developed.
