加拿大论文之A Period of Late Style
Technology in the era has created a revolution that has led to its application in the field of architecture. Peter Eisenman in his work ‘Architecture in a media culture’ has added that the contemporary architecture is subjected to the new media created by 20th century. Eisenman is of the belief that it will be a wrong journey if architecture forms a media. In order to withstand the dominance of the media architecture has to resort for better imaging. The designs generated through the technology are merely a design with no significance. In his work, Eisenman quoted that the today the market is consumer driven and as such there is a very little scope to design new things.
However, from an article ‘Architecture in a media culture’ in Six Point Plan written by Peter Eisenman, he quite dejectedly that contemporary architecture is subject to these new Media. He describes the new media culture as the zeitgeist, or spirit of the time. In the first point of his Six Point Plan, Eisenman states, it is a weak one if architecture is a form of media. To combat the hegemony of the media, architecture has had to resort to more and more spectacular imaging. Shapes generated through digital processes become both built icons that have no meaning but also only refer to their own internal processes (Petrunia, 2008)
