Tax shaming is one way of bringing tax evaders to justice. Through tax shaming, multinationals that refrain from tax liability and cheat on the actual amount are shamed across the country. This can be done byposters, banners, protestors, encouraging disloyalty to the brand and even boycotting the brand completely. This method is useful as it is nonviolent and involves the direct benefactors of the company’s sustenance, and their loyal consumers.

If consumers become strong and impose ethical and moral responsibilities on multinationals, it does make sense that the multinationals might feel a sense of shame highlighted in world media, and make promises to pay full taxes the next time. This method, however, lacking political and legal involvement, may not sustain for a long period. Hence, it may appear to have served the purpose but monitoring multinationals’ tax practice is difficult.
