The other reason that has been encountered is the over-identification of the home country. In this case, it has been observed that the Chinese student over-emphasis and place their home country in a superior position. In most of the Canadian Universities and institutions, the Chinese students depict that in many aspects, they are advanced as compared to the foreign students in terms of using the latest educational techniques, intelligence and sports etc. This hampers the cultural sustainability among the foreign students and they develop a perception that is not quite positive about the Chinese students. This is one of the prestige issues for the international students of Canada in terms of over identifying the country.
This makes the foreign students to develop negative perception towards the Chinese students and tends to create a psychological barrier between foreign and Chinese students. At the same time, the negligence and over-identification affect the trust among the foreign students and thus they gradually socialize less with the students coming from other countries.
It is to be concluded that there has occurred a huge cultural, social as well as the academic gap between the foreign students and Chinese students. Therefore, in order to meet the psychological as well as the cultural gap between the Canadian students and Chinese students, it is important to develop social networking sites through which apart from the university hours, both the students are able to know each other personally.
