In United Kingdom the approach is different because of ASDA retail industry which has the largest customer base in United Kingdom. By acquiring the ASDA the Wal-Mart has grown up the complete network in the whole United Kingdom and supplied also the non-food products and services. In other countries also the environment is very much different so the company’s primary function to find out the customer’s view and available resources present there so that the cost can be reduced.
In China the company’s main challenge was to convince the local ventures so sell their products and make the presence in the Chinese Market. Wal-Mart then got the problem of the politics in China as the China market was not accepting the USA based companies in the country but finally it got accepted. Due to the large amount of the customers present in China the Wal-Mart got a huge market with good prices and customers for their own market along with the Chinese products.
In Canada the difficulty was not much as of the China but the problem was of getting the franchises to be open there. It was hard to find the people who are capable of establishing the franchises there.
The problem that the Wal-Mart got in to the different countries was of political and market risk. Political risk was caused by the different factors as the countries were worried about the customer’s choice. Also the import and export taxes increase creates the problem and result in the high product price and it loses the customers as well. But in other countries there is a chance of getting the number of customers and huge market. The Wal-Mart company also noticed the timing of the market for entry in other countries as per the requirement.
Therefore it can be observed that there is a risk in setting up the business in other countries as well as the market profit too because of getting the large volume of the customers. Even if the price is high this will give the profit to the company.
