After the Cold War ended, there was a common optimism regarding the movement of world economies towards democracies and a highly stabilized as well as peaceful order in the world. On the contrary to these expectations, it further led to the virulent nationalistic and religious passions to unleash. It is the authoritarian regimes through democracies that permitted demand based free expression leading towards such ethnic turbulence explosion (Friedberg, 2005, pp. 7-45). As a matter of fact, militaries in the regions increasingly are facing challenges from radical extremists, terrorists and non-state actors. Political identify and politics based on resource has increasingly become an essential feature of Asian nations (Gordon, 2012, pp. 17-22). For example, China, India and Japan have together become large regions and universal customer energies that in turn have reflected the enhanced focus on perspectives such as sea lanes safety regarding communication. In addition, various responses to these problems through these powers have consequently led towards insecurity of heightened sense (Aqorau, 2012). Major insecurities have been produced by the fact that there are 2 main powers that are simultaneously rising in the Asia Pacific region due to specific problems lying in the region which are India and China. The insecurities have been a result of these rising powers in the region making evident a strategic framework in the Asian context based on 4 factors that result in insecurities to remain as provided below:
Firstly, the region is a victim of various main territory and region based issues, historical baggage and trust inadequacy between the powers. Considering such historical background, more focus has been on security increase with regard to conventional, non-conventional and strategic forces strengthening. Another factor contextualization is related to the US unilateral policies especially those under the administration of Bush (Firth, 2008, pp.119-134). The US related unilateral intervention in Iraq and in other regions has caused uncertainties on the power of US and the way it manifests itself. The gradually decline of US power simultaneously has caused tension in various nations in the region (Hagel, 2013). For example, Japan has a dependency on US with regard to obtaining security cover and is concerned on a possible US power decline as this will affect the security in adverse manner and henceforth lead towards increasing the burden of security. Henceforth, unilateralism in the US along with the US power decline has enhanced region based insecurities (Glaser, 2012, pp.22-24).
Another factor is with regard to Russian insecurity increase along with geopolitical implication result emerging across and in Asia. Russia, after the end of Cold War, had to face economic reversal and now is limping back to main power status (Aqorau, 2012). Considering the complete weakness of Russia with regard to conventional military, strategic forces and economic considerations along with lower global scheme power standing, there further has been more focus on geo-politics based on resources and power of military (Gordon, 2012, pp. 17-22)
Last but not the least is the factor related to warfare based changing nature which has had an essential influence on the manner in which nations are making attempt of shaping geo-politics globally and regionally (Haywood-Jones, 2013).
